Hunters (Wolves and Predator Sharks) (2/5)

While the sea team dives in the Strait of Messina for the six-gill shark, one of the largest sharks in the world, the land team is starting out above Messina. Together with experts, they are tracking a hunter that was almost wiped out completely: the wolf. Via Rome - the Eternal City, the foundation of which is attributed to a she-wolf - the journey leads on to the Marche region on the Italian Adriatic and then further north to where the foothills of the Maritime Alps roll down to the Mediterranean. Wolves have been reintroduced to both Italy and France now for approximately ten years. Meanwhile in the depths of the Strait of Messina, between the cliffs of Scylla and Charybdis the dive team from the research ship "Toftevaag" is hunting for the six-gill shark. Almost nothing is known about this hunter from the deep, which only ends up in fishermen's nets by sheer chance. For the divers it is a great deal more dangerous here than in other areas of the Mediterranean - strong currents and a high level of shipping traffic make the "six-gill shark" enterprise a risky business, which comes to an unusual and fascinating end.
