Help, I'm a Boy!

Eleven-year-old Emma doesn't have it easy. Her mother expects her to always outperform the others, and her mean swim coach wants to make an Olympic swimmer out of her, no matter what. After being harassed yet again by her schoolmate Mickey, Emma wants nothing more than to become a different person. As though by magic, her wish is fulfilled - but not exactly as she wanted: Emma turns into Mickey. And somewhere on the other side of town, Mickey turns into Emma.
Now Emma is trapped in the body of her worst enemy, who she considers to be a lazy bigmouth. And Mickey sees himself in the mirror as his pushy and boring victim. They both have a really big problem, especially since Emma's big swimming competition is in two days.
Emma and Mickey then turn to their weird friend "Four-Eyes", who admits that he was the one who cast this spell on them from a book he found in the woods. But before Four-Eyes can decipher the trick to switch them back to normal, a strange old man appears in a sudden storm and tears the book out of his hands. In the ensuing chase, the three kids find out that the old man is Albert Tartov, a supposedly 126-year-old magician. And to make matters worse, they only have 54 hours to reverse the spell, otherwise they will stay the way they are now - forever.
The most adventurous days of their lives follow, as Mickey must enter the swimming competition in order to win the gold medal necessary to reverse the spell.
In the end, Emma and Mickey learn to respect one another. Emma realizes that life is not all about studying and training, and Mickey discovers that his own drawing talent could improve with the right amount of ambition. Even their parents begin to see each other in a different light.
But the most important thing for the two is that their opinions about each other have changed and they have become friends.

 Emma, 11 Jahre alt, hat es nicht leicht.: Ihre Mutter erwartet stets Großtaten von ihr, und ihr fieser Schwimmtrainer will aus ihr mit allen Mitteln eine Olympionikin machen.  Nachdem Emma mal wieder von ihrem verhassten Klassenkameraden Mickey (12) in die Mangel genommen worden ist, wünscht sie sich eines abends nichts sehnlicher, als jemand anderes zu sein. Ausgelöst von einem magischen Zauber, geht ihr Wunsch unbeabsichtigt in Erfüllung, und leider ganz anders als erträumt: Emmas Körper verwandelt sich in den von Mickey.     
Und am anderen Ende der Stadt verwandelt Mickeys Körper sich in Emma. Emma steckt nun im Körper eines - in ihren Augen -- notorischen Faulpelzes und Großmauls. Und Mickey sieht im Spiegel eine - in seinen Augen -- Streberin und Langweilerin. Kurz: beide haben ein mächtiges Problem, denn Emma wollte eigentlich in zwei Tagen die Schwimmlandesmeisterschaften gewinnen.Emma und Mickey wenden sich an ihren verschrobenen Freund "Vierauge" (11), der gesteht, dass er den  Zauberspruch aus einem gefundenen mysteriösen Buch aus dem Wald hat. Doch ehe Vierauge im Buch entziffern kann, wie der Körpertausch rückgängig zu machen ist, taucht unter in einem plötzlichen unheimlichen Gewitter ein alter Mann auf und entreißt  ihm das Buch. Emma, Mickey und Vierauge finden bei der Verfolgung heraus, dass dieser Mann Albert Tartov heißt und angeblich ein 126jähriger Zauberer ist. Aber das Schlimmste ist: sie haben nur 54 Stunden Zeit, den Körpertausch rückgängig zu machen, danach bleiben sie, wie sie sind: für immer. Es beginnen die abenteuerlichsten Tage ihres Lebens, während derer Mickey schließlich im Körper von Emma zu dem Schwimmrennen antreten muß, um dort die für den Rücktausch nötige Goldmedaille zu gewinnen. Am Ende der Geschichte haben Emma und Mickey Respekt voreinander gewonnen. Emma begreift, dass das Leben nicht nur aus Lernen und Trainieren bestehen sollte und Mickey lernt, dass er wiederum sein eigenes Talent, das Zeichnen, mit ein bisschen Ehrgeiz zur Reife führen kann. Auch Emmas Mutter und Mickeys Eltern verhalten sich ihnen gegenüber nun etwas überlegter.   Aber das Allerwichtigste ist für die beiden, dass sie die Meinungen voneinander ganz schön geändert haben und Freunde geworden sind.
