East Berlin, 1988. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Republic, a big birthday show is being rehearsed at the Friedrichstadt-Palast. In these exciting hours, young dancer Christine suddenly comes face to face with a doppelganger. In the audience sits Marlene, a young businesswoman from West Germany, sent go the GDR Foreign Trade Ministry for negotiations. The twin sisters are profoundly stunned: Why didn't they know about each other? To find out all about their respective lives in the East and the West, the two sisters swap roles, taking enormous risks given the political circumstances but still having great fun in the adventure of a lifetime…

This highly entertaining tentpole production was shot at the world’s biggest theater stage in Berlin. It tackles universal topics like identity, freedom and the desire to break through outer and inner walls. Directed by Uli Edel (“Baader Meinhof Complex”), it stars Svenja Jung (“Deutschland 89”), Daniel Donskoy (“Victoria”, “The Crown”) and Heino Ferch (“Ku’Damm”, “Downfall”).
