Hunters of the Light (1/3)

Nine-year-old Dani lives in a small village on the wild east coast of Greenland. Together with his father and great uncle, he is setting out on a journey to hunt musk ox. The two men are among the last hunters in Greenland, who still travel by dog sled, and now Dani is to learn the traditional ways of his ancestors. On his journey, he experiences the breathtaking landscapes, the Northern Lights dancing in the night sky and learns how important it is to look after and respect animals.

The ancient myths and fairytales of the Inuit are woven into this fascinating journey. Stories which make tangible how closely intertwined man and nature once were. Drum dancer Anda Kuitse passes these stories on to the youngsters in the village so that it is not forgotten that once a man took a fox to be his wife or how the sun and the moon came to be in the sky.
